Call deadline:

Project Title / Acronym:
CAMSFICS
Project Description:
CAMSFICS Collaborative and Multiple Source Fusion of Information in Crisis Situations integrates technologies for Public and Police / Law Enforcement / First Responders to have the most accurate and timely information to analyse, understand and disseminate information about a crisis situation. The research project will demonstrate different methods and technologies for real-time information aggregation of selected Web 2.0 unstructured sources as well as structured social media feeds and broadcast news from radio and TV. The data aggregator will also be assessed as a means to incorporate information contributions from the public or partner organisations within the realm of Police / Law Enforcement and First Responders. The technology solution will incorporate Text and Video / Audio stream analysis technologies – such technologies will likely include geo-tagging, object recognition and others such as named entity recognition and relevance filtering. A distributed and collaborative working environment will be designed with appropriate multi-layered control over access privileges and security, which will in effect produce the impression of two complimentary and selectively integrated systems, one for the public use and one for Law Enforcement. The environment will provide communication and collaboration features including workflow rule capabilities (e.g. “escalate to party X all items tagged with tag Y”). The system will allow users to search and query the system for reports based on location proximity, time, tag, report content and other parameters. Real-time visualizations will also be developed in order to help system users deal with the flow of information, including spatial map-based displays such as heat-maps, chloropleth maps or embedded imagery; and semantic displays such as tag/word clouds or associated visualizations as part of comprehensive analytical tools.
